Error Message

When opening a survey form in ArcGIS Survey123, one the following error messages is returned:

Error: Unable to connect. Position source closed.

Cause

ArcGIS Survey123 is unable to access the location information of the machine or device as the location settings on the machine or device is toggled off.

Solution or Workaround

Enable the permission from the Location Privacy Settings in Windows

  1. Click the Windows Start button, and navigate to Settings.
  2. In the Windows Settings pane, click Privacy > Location.
  3. Toggle the Location Service option On.

  1. Navigate to the Apple menu, and click System Preferences.

  1. In System Preferences, select Security & Privacy > Privacy.
