The following error frequently arises when attempting to access the Web Adaptor configuration page from a machine other than the one where the Web Adaptor is installed.

However, sometimes the error appears while trying to access the configuration page from the same machine that hosts the Web Adaptor.

Cause

This behavior is tied to the Web Adaptor's design to ensure secure and local access during configuration. If a forward proxy is configured, it modifies the request routing, which can prevent the Web Adaptor from recognizing the request as originating from the local machine.

Proxy settings are defined in the network settings and, if these are not configured to bypass the proxy for local addresses, the Web Adaptor cannot verify the local origin. When a proxy reroutes the request, it creates a loopback scenario, causing the Web Adaptor to misinterpret the request's origin as not connecting from the machine where the Web Adaptor is installed.

Solution or Workaround

Check the network settings of the machine which hosts the Web Adaptor to make sure a proxy server/forward proxy is not configured. Disabling the proxy settings ensures that requests to the Web Adaptor configuration page are not intercepted or rerouted by the proxy.

If the Web Adaptor is installed on Windows, follow these instructions.

1. On the machine which hosts the Web Adaptor, launch Internet Options by searching for it in the Windows Search bar.
2. Navigate to the Connections tab and click LAN settings.
3. Under Proxy server, uncheck the box for the Use a proxy server for your LAN option.

4. Click OK.
5. Try to access the Web Adaptor configuration page and configure the Web Adaptor.
6. Once the Web Adaptor is configured successfully, reenable the proxy server from Internet Options.
