The URL http:// ... is invalid or ArcIMS is not running

Error Message

After enabling Secure Socket Layer(SSL) on the web server, the following error message is displayed when trying to login to ArcIMS Administrator:"The URL http:// ... is invalid or ArcIMS is not running."

Cause

Java applications, such as ArcIMS Administrator, do not have a way of adding public/private key pairs and associated certificates automatically. When using a
web browser, the browser identifies the issuing authority and adds it to a list of certificates.

A Java application like ArcIMS Administrator does not have a way to do this automatically.
