ERROR
ArcInfo Workstation CONNECT command is used to access an external database from the ArcInfo Workstation command line. Running this command at version 10.0 returns the following error message:"Server path name dbi_odbc does not exist".
The CONNECT command uses the Database Integrator (DBI). Esri can no longer update this technology to meet the needs of current database platforms. ArcInfo Workstation 9.3.x was the last release to include and support use of the Database Integrator.
Warning:
Please be aware that Esri does not support this procedure, but the process described has allowed continuation of access of external database management systems (DBMS) using ArcInfo Workstation 10.
Note:
ArcInfo Workstation must be installed prior to performing these steps.
Note:
ArcInfo Workstation supports up to Oracle v. 9i, as listed in the system requirements web page below:
Note:
If a more recent version of Oracle is installed, the connection may fail even though the workaround is performed.
C:\arcgis\arcexe10x
Note:
This is the default installation location for ArcInfo Workstation. Paste to the appropriate location in the system if the installation location differs.
C:\arcgis\arcexe10x\bin
