SDE not running on server, Unable to get rqmgr status

Error Message

Issuing a GPMON command produces:
SDE not running on server, Unable to get rqmgr status.

Cause

GPMON is used to start both the ArcSDE and the gpserver instances. If the ArcSDE instance and the gpserver instance names match, an error will be returned.

Solution or Workaround



Navigate to C:\arcgis\arcexe81\gpserver and change the instance name and port number of the gpserver instance in the services.rqm file.

Navigate to C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC and change the instance name and port number of the gpserver instance in the services file.
