Accessing a map returns the following error:
"MapService not available".
The overview map displays but the main map does not.
This occurs when TrueType fonts are either not installed on the system or are corrupt.
Solution or Workaround
Elements of the main map, such as the North Arrow and other labels, displayed on the Acetate Layer require TrueType fonts.
- Insert the ArcIMS Installation CD.
- Browse to Documentation Section.
- Find the topic that reads 'Font requirement'.
- Follow all of the instructions regarding the installation of fonts on the Operating System.
