Error Message

CONNECT on Solaris to Oracle 9i fails with the following error: "Arc: connect oracle system/manager
ld.so.1: /arcexe83/bin/dbi_oracle9i: fatal: libclntsh.so.9.0:
open failed: No such file or directory
Server oracle, pid: 123 terminated abnormally".

Cause

The ArcInfo executable DBI_ORACLE9I is failing to find the Oracle library libclntsh.so.9.0, which is located in $ORACLE_HOME/lib.
