Summary

While installing PC ARC/INFO 3.5.2 this error occurs:

"Install error #8: Unable to execute installer"

Cause

Not enough conventional memory available for the install runtime to execute.

Solution

Warning:
WARNING: The instructions below include making changes to essential parts of your operating system. It is recommended that you backup your operating system and files, including the registry, before proceeding. Consult with a qualified computer systems professional, if necessary.

ESRI cannot guarantee results from incorrect modifications while following these instructions. Therefore, use caution and proceed at your own risk.

Reconfigure the AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS files to remove from conventional memory unnecessary all terminate and stay-resident programs (TSRs) and drivers, or to load them into upper memory using a memory manager. With DOS 6.X, the MEMMAKER command will do this automatically. It is recommended that at least 575K RAM of conventional memory be available to run PC ARC/INFO successfully.
