Input shapefile is invalid

Error Message

Using the Shapefile to DXF conversion utility in ArcToolbox returns the following error message:

"<path to shapefile> does not have an associated dBASE file. Input shapefile is invalid."

Cause

A folder in the path to the shapefile has a period in its name.

Solution or Workaround

• Remove the period from the directory name.
• Move the shapefile to a directory without a period in the name.
