Error: General Protection Fault

Error Message

This error occurs while installing ArcView:

"General Protection Fault"

Windows may crash afterward.

Cause

Conflict with concurrently running applications.

Solution or Workaround

Before installing ArcView, or any other Windows application, you should exit all applications.

These applications may cause conflicts with installation programs:

· Hawkeye
· AfterDark
· Norton Desktop
· Corel Starfish Sidekick.

Note:
On Windows 3.1x, you should exit other applications that may have been initialized in the CONFIG.SYS.  Edit this file to REMark TSR (Terminate and Stay Resident) programs and devices,  then reboot and restart Windows.
