Error Message

When attempting to modify or delete enterprise geodatabase domains in ArcGIS Pro, the following error message is returned:

Error:
Failed to update one of the domains.
Must be the owner to perform this operation.
Lock request conflicts with an established lock [lock request conflicts with an established lock[<lock>]]
The error message.

Cause

The domain user is not the owner of the domain or the geodatabase administrator. Only the domain owner or the geodatabase administrator can modify the domain properties or delete the domain. The owner of the domain is recorded based on the user who created the domain. Refer to ArcGIS Pro: Modify or delete a domain for more information.

Solution or Workaround

Note:
The workflow described in the ArcGIS Blog post is only applicable for ArcGIS Pro 3.0 and above. For versions older than ArcGIS Pro 3.0, the geodatabase domains cannot be modified and must be recreated by the new user.
