ERROR

Failed to check sharing process status

Last Published: April 25, 2020

Error Message

In ArcGIS Pro, attempts to run any geoprocessing tools return the following error message:

Error:
Failed to check sharing process status

Reviewing the Job Status pane indicates a failed task exists in the job queue. Clicking the remove button does not remove the failed task.

Cause

This issue occurs when an attempt to share content to ArcGIS Online is made and if the sharing process fails. As the task has failed to complete, the job request is left in the Job Queue which prevents other jobs from being processed.

Solution or Workaround

To resolve this issue, manually clear the job queue with the following steps:

  1. If ArcGIS Pro is running, close the application.
  2. Navigate to the following directory:
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\ESRI\ArcGISPro\Staging\SharingProcesses
  1. Search for the folder named SharingMainLog.
  2. Rename the folder to SharingMainLog_old.
  3. Start ArcGIS Pro and check the Job Status pane. The job queue is now cleared.
