Exec(): 0509-036 Cannot load program

Error Message

Running ArcIMS or ArcInfo Workstation on AIX 5.2 or AIX 5.3 without asynchronous I/O module enabled results in the following error:"Exec(): 0509-036 Cannot load program."** The information in this article pertains to both the platforms AIX 5.2 and AIX 5.3. **

Cause

The AIX 5.2 or AIX 5.3 asynchronous I/O module has not been loaded.

Solution or Workaround

1. Use SMIT and navigate to Devices > Asynchronous I/O > Asynchronous I/O (Legacy) > Change/Show Characteristics of Asynchronous I/O.
2. Change 'STATE to be configured at system restart' from defined to available.
3. Click OK and exit SMIT.
4. Reboot the computer.
