During the installation of ArcGIS 9.0 on a Windows 2000 system, the following error message or similar may occur:
"Error 1904 module C:\Program Files\ArcGIS\Bin\BpESEIFunctions.dll failed to register HRESULT -2147220991"
The filenames may vary.
Windows 2000 fails to register files because it lacks the necessary registry space to add the registration information; this happens when reaching maximum limits.
Solution or Workaround
Increase the available registry space.
- Navigate to Start>Control Panel>System to open System Properties.
- Select the Advanced Tab, click Performance Options and click Change in the Virtual Memory section.
- Increase the current value for the maximum registry size by adding an additional 100 MB to the current maximum.
- Click OK to save settings and then exit System Properties.
- Re-run the installation.
