Error: Err: Cannot Connect/lauch PC Arc Text Window

Summary

On Windows NT, when starting any of the Windows modules by selecting the icons on the desktop or the program icons, the module takes longer to load, it then stops at the Arcw.pif text window and displays the following error:

   [err:cannot connect/lauch pc arc text window]

If one gets past this screen, not all of the commands will be functional and this message occurs for commands such as CON-CGI:

   [unrecognized command]

Cause

A a conflict with the Novell Client.

Solution

Uninstall the Novell client from your computer.

In some cases this is happens on a computer that is not connected to the network and it is operating as a stand alone workstation. Reconnect the computer to the network may resolve this issue.
