DBMS error: the INSERT statement conflicted with the CHECK constraint

Error Message

Attempts to edit a feature class in an enterprise geodatabase, such as creating new features, fails and returns the following error:

Cause

The issue occurs if the spatial index of the feature class is not calculated properly, or is wrongly calibrated. Refer to the following web help document, ArcGIS Desktop: Spatial indexes in the geodatabase for more information on spatial indexes.

Solution or Workaround

The following steps describe how to recalculate the spatial index on the feature class:
  1. Identify and locate the feature class name from the error message in ArcCatalog.
  2. Right-click the feature and select Properties to open the Feature Class Properties window.
  3. Click the Indexes tab.
  4. Under the Spatial Index section, click Recalculate.
