Embedded content in ArcGIS Dashboards does not function properly and only displays empty layers with the following error:

Cause

• The hosted layer referenced in the dashboard is not shared with the specified user.
• The hosted layer referenced in the dashboard is removed and re-added. This is expected behavior. While the layer may contain the same name, a newly created layer contains a different item ID. The dashboard recognizes the previous item ID, referencing items that no longer exist.

Solution or Workaround

Depending on the cause, use one of the following solutions to solve the issue.

• Share the hosted layer with the desired user. Refer to ArcGIS Dashboards: Share a dashboard for more information regarding sharing.
• If the layer is re-added, the dashboard must be reconfigured to include the newly added layer as a new item. Refer to ArcGIS Dashboards: Create a dashboard for more information about adding items.
