Connect Failed to connect to database. Login failed for user 'test'

Error Message

When trying to view in OLE DB data in ArcMap or ArcCatalog, one of the following error messages is returned:"Connect
Failed to connect to database.
Login failed for user 'test'."Or:"Connect
Failed to connect to database.
The user and/or password is invalid.
Login failed for user 'test'."

Cause

The password was not saved with the connection string and was not passed to the DBMS.

Solution or Workaround

When setting up the OLE DB connection, select to save the password in the Connection tab of the Data Link Properties dialog box.

Check the "Allow Saving Password" box.
