Error Message

Attempts to run the webgisdr utility to create backup files for the ArcGIS Enterprise deployment fail, with the following error message returned in the Command Prompt window:

Cannot access the file <Temporary File Path>.

Cause

The ArcGIS Enterprise domain account and the account running the account running the WebGISDR tool does not have access to the backup folder specified in the BACKUP_LOCATION propery of the WebGISDR tool properties file when creating an ArcGIS Enterprise backup.

Solution or Workaround

Give the necessary accounts Full Control permissions to the BACKUP_LOCATION folder.

  1. Navigate to the BACKUP_LOCATION folder location and right-click the folder.
  2. Click Properties.
  3. Click the Sharing tab.
  4. Click Advanced Sharing….
  5. Check the Share this folder check box.
  6. Click Permissions.
  7. Select the account used to configure Portal for ArcGIS from the Group or user names list.
Note:
If the accounts are not listed in the Group or user names list, click Add..., and search for the accounts in the Enter the object names to select (examples) search box. Click Check Names, select the account under Matching names and click OK.
  1. Check the Allow option for Full control.
  2. Click OK.

  1. Repeat Steps 7 to 9 for the account running the webgisdr tool if a different account is used.
