Error Message

When attempting to publish hosted tile layers on ArcGIS Online, the following error message is returned, as shown in the image below.

Bundle count limit exceeded, allowed only <number> bundles but requested for <number> bundles
Error: Bundle count limit exceeded, allowed only xxx bundles but requested for xxx bundles

Cause

  • There may be limitations set by the organization administration on publishing bigger tiles as it consumes storage and credits.
  • In some instances, when making the map tile packages, the map tile packages include unnecessary or empty tiles causing the tile layer to consume more bundles.

Solution or Workaround

Choose one of the following methods to resolve this issue.

Select the appropriate visibility range

Choose the appropriate visibility range. Refer to ArcGIS Online: Set visible range (Map Viewer Classic) for more information.

Update the bundle limit

Update the bundle limit by purchasing credits and storage. Refer to ArcGIS Online: Credits and storage for more information.

Recreate the tile package to include only the necessary extent and publish it as a hosted tile layer to ArcGIS Online

Recreate the tile package and include the data extent. Complete the steps below to do so.

  1. In ArcGIS Pro, navigate to Analysis > Tools.
  2. In the Geoprocessing pane, search for and select Create Map Tile Package in the search box.

  1. In the Create Map Tile Package pane, under Parameters, select a map for Input Map and fill in the name for the Output File.
  2. In Tiling Format, select PNG 32 bit.
  3. For Extent, select the desired extent. This article uses Union of Inputs as an example.
  4. Select tpk for Package type. Click Run.

  1. Publish the output layer as a hosted tile layer to ArcGIS Online. Refer to ArcGIS Pro: Share a web feature layer for more information.
