Assertion: Self->hdwg failed at line 2296 of file...\dwg.c

Error Message

When trying to add a dxf file as a theme to a view, ArcView returns this error message:Assertion: Self->hdwg failed at line 2296 of file...\dwg.c appears

Cause

The dxf file is missing a carriage return at the end of file.

Solution or Workaround

1. Open the dxf file in a text editor such as WordPad.
2. Scroll to the end of the file.
3. Add a carriage return after the line "EOF".
4. Save the file and try it again in ArcView.
