Error: Assertion "Cfield" Failed at Line 2597 of File "\avgrid2\gtheme\gtheme.c"

When adding a grid to a view in ArcView the following error is returned:

Assertion "cfield" failed at line 2597 of file "\avgrid2\gtheme\gtheme.c"

The count field has been removed from the grid value attribute table (VAT).

Recreate the grid so that you do not drop or delete the count field.
