ArcGIS crashes when geocoding

Error Message

Several geocoding attempts causes ArcGIS to crash. These include:
-geocoding a table of addresses in ArcMap or ArcCatalog,
-interactively rematching a geocoded feature class in ArcMap, or
-searching for addresses using the Find dialog box in ArcMap.

Cause

The geocoding engine used by ArcGIS Desktop applications and ArcSDE have a maximum limit of 32,767 of address candidates. Exceeding this limit causes the applications to fail.

Solution or Workaround

This issue was resolved in ArcGIS 8.3.
