Address Coder may fail when the input file is Excel, with the error message: Unexpected error from external database driver (1)

Error Message

When using an Excel file as the input for Address Coder, the following error may be returned:

Unexpected error from external database driver (1)

Cause

The October 14th, 2017 Microsoft update has been determined to be the cause of this issue. 

Solution or Workaround

This issue can be addressed by installing the Microsoft patch appropriate for your Operating System, available from the following link:

• Microsoft blog: Unexpected error from external database driver (1). (Microsoft JET Database Engine)” after applying October security updates

 Once the appropriate patch is installed the issue will be eliminated and Address Coder will work as expected with Excel and all other supported inputs.

Note: 
The patch is not specific to any version of Address Coder and addresses the problem across all releases.
