Error 1904: failed to register C:\Program Files\ArcGIS\Bin\sketchupreader.dll

Error Message

When installing ArcGIS Desktop 9.2, the following error message is displayed:

Error 1904: failed to register C:\Program Files\ArcGIS\Bin\sketchupreader.dll

Cause

The file atl.dll is not properly registered.

Solution or Workaround

1. Click Ignore on the 1904 error message dialog box.
2. Manually register atl.dll. To do so, refer to the steps provided in the following article, Error 1904: Failed To Register AoInitializer.dll.
3. Using the same procedure shown in Step 2, change directory to <arcgis_install_location>\bin and manually register sketchupreader.dll:

regsvr32 sketchupreader.dll
