Error 1704 An installation for ArcGIS Desktop is currently suspended

Note:

When installing ArcGIS Desktop, the following error is encountered:

"Error 1704
An installation for ArcGIS Desktop is currently suspended.
Do you want to undo those changes? yes/no"

Cause

This typically occurs when the previous version of ArcGIS Desktop was not completely uninstalled prior to installing the newer version of ArcGIS Desktop.

Solution or Workaround

• Click 'Yes' to the error message, and allow the rollback to occur. The installation then proceeds normally.
• If nothing happens:

1. Exit the install, and uninstall the previous version of ArcGIS Desktop.
2. Reinstall the new version of ArcGIS Desktop
