ERROR 160619: Cannot enable archiving on non-simple dataset

Error Message

When attempting to enable Archiving on a feature dataset that contains a topology, an error is encountered:

"EnableArchiving: ERROR 160619: Cannot enable archiving on non simple dataset."

Cause

Topology is an example of non-simple data. Enabling archiving on a non-versioned feature dataset that contains a topology is not supported by the software.

Solution or Workaround

Non-simple data (geometric network, topology, or network dataset) must first be registered as versioned to enable archiving.
