Last Published: April 25, 2020

Error Message

When creating a colormap or raster attribute table for a raster dataset, the following error message is returned:

Error:
Error 000423: Only single band integer raster dataset is a valid input.

Cause

Creating a colormap or raster attribute table requires the input to be a single band raster with an integer pixel type.

Solution or Workaround

Ensure that the input is a single band integer raster. To check the raster properties, right-click the raster dataset from the Catalog window, and click Properties to open the Raster Dataset Properties dialog box. The Number of Bands and Pixel Type are shown under Raster Information.

Raster Dataset Properties dialog box

If the input raster dataset has multiple bands, refer to How To: Extract a single band from a multiple band raster to extract a single band from the raster. To change a floating pixel type raster to integer, use the Int tool and select the floating type raster as the input.
