PROBLEM

Enrich Layer can fail for large processing jobs

Last Published: February 23, 2023

Description

When using the ArcGIS Business Analyst Pro Enrich Layer geoprocessing tool, large processing jobs can fail using non-US local datasets. An example of a large processing scenario could be: Enriching 150-mile trade area rings with demographic variables.

Cause

In ArcGIS Pro 3.1, Enrich Layer performance optimizations implemented for the Block Apportionment data retrieval method will cause the Centroids in Polygon method to fail. Block Apportionment is used for smaller geographies.
For example, to determine the population in five-minute drive time trade areas in a city. Centroids in Polygon captures the centers of geographies typically at larger analysis levels, such as determining population at regional or national scales.

Solution or Workaround

Apply one of the following options in the Enrich Layer > Environments tab, then run the tool:
  • Set the Parallel Processing Factor to "1"
  • Check Use Detailed Aggregation
