PROBLEM

Drone2Map 2023.1 crashes when attempting to process any data

Last Published: March 23, 2023

Description

In ArcGIS Drone2Map 2023.1, processing may crash with an error reporter window appearing. Re-opening the program and resuming processing displays the same error and continues to crash.

Cause

Typically, Drone2Map does not have issues with older versions of ArcGIS Pro and its extensions. However, with version 2023.1 there is a conflict with older versions of the Data Interoperability extension. If you have Data Interoperability installed on your machine, then it must be upgraded to at least the ArcGIS Pro 3.1 equivalent for Drone2Map 2023.1 to process. If not, when processing, the program crashes with the Esri error reporter window appearing.

Solution or Workaround

The main solution for this issue is to upgrade ArcGIS Pro and the Data Interoperability extension to 3.1 or higher. ArcGIS Pro can be upgraded within the backstage of the program by following these steps:

  1. From the New Project window click Settings
  2. In the ribbon click About
  3. Click the Download Now button.

An installer starts after the download and ArcGIS Pro is upgraded once it completes.

For the Data Interoperability extension, the installs are version-specific, navigate to My Esri and find the appropriate version for the version of ArcGIS Pro version in use. Data Interoperability is listed as a separate installer under that version.
