Frequently asked question
No, Esri does not test, certify, or log defects related to S3-compatible storage.
When ArcGIS Enterprise is deployed in the cloud, it becomes possible to integrate with cloud services. Cloud services offered from cloud providers can be used to power enterprise geodatabases, store system directories, backups, web service caches, and more. The specific cloud services that Esri supports varies depending on the use case.
One common question from users is: Can I use S3-compatible storage?
S3-compatible storage refers to storage options provided by vendors that are not Amazon Web Services (AWS) that claim compatibility with the S3 APIs provided by AWS public cloud. It is the responsibility of the individual cloud storage provider to ensure that their service is compatible with all aspects of the AWS S3 API. Because of this, Esri cannot guarantee that S3-compatible storage services will work with ArcGIS Enterprise.
If an organization chooses to leverage an S3-compatible storage service and configure it for use with ArcGIS Enterprise, it should be done with caution and at their own discretion, with the understanding that Esri is unable to guarantee the usability or performance of them. Additionally, Esri Technical Support will not assist in troubleshooting compatibility issues with S3-compatible storage or log S3-compatible related defects (bugs or enhancements).
