ERROR

Directory pathname too long

Last Published: April 25, 2020

Error Message

When executing the REGIONPOLY command and specifying an {out_table}, the conversion does not complete and this message is returned:

Directory pathname too long

Cause

The REGIONPOLY atool has a limit when using the {out_table}, where the (length of the full path to the current workspace) + (the length of the subclass name) + 13, cannot be greater than 79 characters.

Solution or Workaround

Copy the coverage to a new workspace that will yield a shorter path.

You can use AML to determine the character length of the path:

Code:
Arc: workspace
Current location: e:\data\coverages

Arc: &type [length [show &workspace]]
17
