DEPRECATION

VBScript Evaluators in ArcGIS Network Analyst

Last Published: February 24, 2025

Description

Support for VBScript in Field Script Evaluator and Element Script Evaluator property dialogs for Network Dataset properties will be removed from the ArcGIS Pro 3.5 release. ArcGIS Pro 3.4 is scheduled to retire on Dec 1, 2027 and this is in alignment with Phase 2 of Microsoft’s deprecation notice where VBScript will no longer be on by default on 2027.

Recommendation

Customers with the ArcGIS Network Analyst extension for ArcGIS Pro will need to replace VBScript code in evaluators with Python code. Refer to the Esri Support article, How to migrate network dataset evaluators from VBScript to Python? for more information.

There is also a help topic for ArcGIS Pro 3.4 script evaluator examples, as well as types of evaluators used by a network. Notices about using VBScript have been provided in the 3.1, 3.2, 3.3 and 3.4 releases of ArcGIS Pro. Warning messages are provided in ArcGIS Pro 3.4 each time a user views their Field Script or Element Script evaluators or applies changes to them.
