Support for Bing Maps in ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise

Description

In May 2024 Microsoft announced the deprecation of Bing Maps for Enterprise. The announcement stated that beginning June 30, 2024, no new customers can license Bing Maps for Enterprise, and Bing Maps for Enterprise services and product support will end on June 30, 2028.

Esri will continue to support ArcGIS Online organizations actively using Bing Maps keys through Q4 2026. In the Q4 2026 update of ArcGIS Online, Esri will retire the option to enter a Bing Maps key for all organizations. For ArcGIS Enterprise customers on versions 11.5 and earlier, Bing Maps will continue to function until their Bing Maps keys expire. If a customer has provided a Bing Maps key and added a basemap to a web map in Map Viewer (Classic) before upgrading to ArcGIS Enterprise 12.0, that web map with the Bings Maps basemap will open and work in Map Viewer in ArcGIS Enterprise 12.0 until their Bing Maps key expires.

Recommendation

Moving forward, customers can use ArcGIS basemaps instead of Bing Maps in ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise.
