DEPRECATION

ArcGIS Web AppBuilder

Last Published: February 12, 2026

Description

The retirement of ArcGIS Web AppBuilder (developer edition, in ArcGIS Enterprise, and in ArcGIS Online) is driven by the retirement of the ArcGIS API 3.x for JavaScript.

The developer edition of ArcGIS Web AppBuilder was retired in July 2024.

ArcGIS Web AppBuilder in ArcGIS Enterprise had its final release with ArcGIS Enterprise 11.5, released on May 22, 2025.

ArcGIS Web AppBuilder in ArcGIS Online will retire in Q2 2027 with the following phases:

  • By the Q1 2026 update: Users will be unable to create new apps in ArcGIS Web AppBuilder but can still view and update their existing apps.
  • After the Q4 2026 update: users will only be able to view existing apps.
  • By the Q2 2027 update: Existing apps will no longer be accessible in ArcGIS Online. At this point, ArcGIS Web AppBuilder will be retired in ArcGIS Online.

ArcGIS Web AppBuilder in ArcGIS Online will be supported by ESRI until the Q2 2027 retirement date.

Recommendation

Customers are encouraged to migrate from ArcGIS Web AppBuilder at their earliest convenience to ArcGIS Experience Builder, the recommended migration path. Apps created using Web AppBuilder will need to be reconfigured.

Deprecation does not impact Web AppBuilder availability, functionality, or Support (Product Lifecycle Support Phase). The Web AppBuilder retirement is expected to have a moderate impact on customers if they have rebuilt their apps using more modern technology such as ArcGIS Experience Builder.
