DEPRECATION

ArcGIS Utility Network Version 3

Description

ArcGIS Utility Network version 3 is being deprecated. It was introduced with ArcGIS Enterprise 10.7 and ArcGIS Pro 2.3 and includes an initial dirty area management design that has since been enhanced in later versions.

As this dataset version is no longer actively used by customers in production (to our knowledge) and has been superseded by newer, fully supported versions, Esri is deprecating Utility Network version 3 to focus on the development, quality assurance, and support efforts of current utility network implementations.

Recommendation

To the best of Esri’s knowledge, there are no customers currently running Utility Network version 3 in production environments. Customers who may still have Utility Network version 3 datasets can continue working with their data by upgrading to a supported Utility Network version.

Customers are encouraged to upgrade their existing utility network dataset to Utility Network version 5 or later using the upgrade dataset tool available in ArcGIS Pro. The upgrade process is cumulative and includes all required schema updates from earlier versions. Alternatively, customers may export an asset package and create a new utility network dataset at a later version using the apply asset package tool. Both approaches are fully supported and allow customers to take advantage of current and future utility network capabilities.
