ArcGIS Utility Network shortest path trace

Description

The shortest path trace identifies the shortest path between two points using a trace in ArcGIS Utility Network and ArcGIS Trace Network. The path is calculated using a numeric network attribute, such as shape length. Both cost- and distance-based paths can be derived using this trace type.

Recommendation

While the Shortest Path Trace tool is being deprecated in ArcGIS Pro 3.7 and ArcGIS Enterprise 12.1, existing trace configurations continue to function until the next major version of ArcGIS Pro. Although adoption is not immediately required, users are encouraged to begin using the path trace type.
