ArcGIS Notebooks Runtime v6 and v7

Description

ArcGIS Notebooks Runtime versions 6 and 7 have been deprecated for over a year and will be removed with the ArcGIS Online Q1 2026 update.

Recommendation

To avoid workflow disruptions, ensure ArcGIS Notebooks users take the following steps by February 2026:

Step 1: Review Runtime version

Go to your Notebooks homepage and check the Runtime version for each notebook under "My notebooks" or "Shared notebooks." A triangular caution sign indicates a deprecated Runtime.

Step 2: Review and choose compatible Runtime

Review the available Python libraries and their compatibility with different Runtime versions.

Choose a Runtime version that is compatible with your code, considering library availability and compatibility.

Step 3: Update Runtime version

Open the notebook's item page and navigate to the Settings tab.

Select the latest Runtime version compatible with your code from the drop-down list.

Step 4: Test your notebook

After updating the Runtime version, test your notebook to ensure it works as expected.
