BUG

Data Interoperability point data sources are always displayed as multipoint

Last Published: April 25, 2020

Description

Data Interoperability point data sources are always displayed as multipoint.

Cause

The Data Interoperability extension uses the plug-in data source to add support for the new read-only vector data sources in ArcGIS. With the original design, one feature type had to be selected for point features. In order to preserve features and verify that no features were removed, multipoint feature type was selected over point.

See the Related Information section for more details on Plug-in data sources.

Workaround

For display purposes, multipoint data sources should work fine. If an application requires a point feature type for input, the data source needs to be converted to a format supported by ArcGIS - without the Data Interoperability extension.

Use the Data Interoperability tools (Quick Import or Quick Export) to convert the data from one format to another. These tools can be found in the Data Interoperability Tools toolbox that comes with the extension.
