Creating parcel remainders returns a Construction method error

Description

When creating a parcel remainder by right-clicking the overlaying parcel feature and selecting Parcel Remainder, a "Construction method error" is returned.

Cause

There have been 2 identified causes of this error:

• The underlying parcel feature is composed of line strings instead of two-point line segments.

• One or more of the parcels involved are missing join links which would create line points. Without the line points, some of the parcel lines are not completely coincident.

Solution or Workaround

If the problem was that the parcel contained line strings, follow these instructions to split the line strings:

1. Open the Parcel Details window.
2. Click the Lines tab.
3. Right-click the Line String, and select Split Line String.
4. Rejoin the parcel to the fabric.

If the problem was that there were missing join links, follow these instructions for each parcel involved in the remainder to create the join links:
