Configure ArcGIS Server Manager for Java to function after the Server Machine Hostname has changed

This article applies to retired ArcGIS versions 9.x. Later versions of ArcGIS may contain different functionality, as well as different names and locations for menus, commands and geoprocessing tools.

Instructions provided describe how to configure ArcGIS Server Manager for Java to function after the GIS Server machine's hostname has changed.

Procedure

  1. Change the host machine's hostname.
  2. Modify the server name in the file ArcGIS\java\manager\config\applications\defaultservers.xml.
  3. Modify the server name in the file ArcGIS\server\system\server.dat.
  4. Run the application ArcGIS\java\support\serverjavamanager.exe.
  5. Delete all the existing files from the two directories below:
ArcGIS\java\manager\service\tomcat\managerserver\work\Catalina\localhost
ArcGIS\java\manager\service\tomcat\managerappserver\work\Catalina\localhost

New files will be re-created automatically.

  1. Restart the ArcGIS Server Object Manager and Server Manager Services.
  2. Run ArcGIS Server Post Install process.
