Changes are not synchronized for a feature class that has the same name as the feature dataset

Description

If a feature class is replicated that has the same name as the feature dataset that it resides in, changes will not be synchronized. When synchronizing connected, no errors are visible, but changes from the feature class are not applied. When using disconnected synchronization, exporting changes succeeds, but importing changes error. The error may appear as follows:

"Import Changes failed.
FDO error: -2147219444".

Cause

There is a defect where replicating a feature class that has the same name as the feature dataset causes this problem.

Workaround

To work around the issue, rename either the feature class or the feature dataset such that the names are not the same and re-create the replica.
