Canada 2023 Business Analyst dataset StreetMap Premium and ArcMap compatibility

Description

By default, the locally stored Canada 2023 Business Analyst dataset uses StreetMap Premium data stored in a modern mobile geodatabase. This format is optimized for ArcGIS Pro but causes a broken data link in ArcMap due to compatibility issues. ArcMap users can eliminate this problem by navigating to and selecting the streets network from the file geodatabase, stored in the downloaded dataset. Once ArcMap Business Analyst points to streets data from the file geodatabase, the broken link will be repaired and resolved.
To make this change, do the following:

Solution or Workaround

Ensure that the Canada 2023 Business Analyst dataset is installed and licensed.

1. Open ArcMap Business Analyst.
2. Open the Business Analyst drop-down menu and select Preferences.

The Preferences window opens.

3. Click the Dataset tab.

The Dataset parameters are displayed.

4. Ensure that Esri Canada 2023 is selected from the Current Dataset drop-down menu.
5. Click the Streets Network folder near the bottom of the window.
6. Navigate to and select the Routing_ND feature class from the Streets Data folder in the dataset.

With a standard installation on the C: drive, the path to this feature class is:

C:\ArcGIS\Business Analyst\CAN_2023\Data\Streets Data\NorthAmerica.gdb\Routing\Routing_ND

7. Click Add.
8. Click OK to close the Preferences window.

Completing these steps resolves the broken data link in ArcMap and enables the street network for use in the downloaded Canada 2023 Business Analyst dataset.
