Can an ArcMap Image service be created on UNIX using an mxd that references UNIX aliases and environment variables?
Answer
No. The ArcMap Server is unable to reference data whose path contains special characters such as spaces or '$'. ArcMap documents that are served using the ArcMap Server on Unix must employ absolute data paths and contain lower-case alpha-numeric characters.Article ID:000006964
