BUG
When building a network dataset on a machine that has more than 3 GB of available RAM, the build fails and returns the following error:
Error: File read/write error occurred.
The network dataset builder is improperly determining the amount of available memory on the machine, which causes the error to be thrown.
Note: This key is not in the registry by default. It needs to be created and set to the appropriate value.
Warning: The instructions below include making changes to essential parts of your operating system. It is recommended that you backup your operating system and files, including the registry, before proceeding. Consult with a qualified computer systems professional, if necessary. Esri cannot guarantee results from incorrect modifications while following these instructions; therefore, use caution and proceed at your own risk.
Note: This registry DWORD determines the amount of memory in MB to use when building a network dataset. The suggested value of 512 MB should be adequate, but this number can be increased to be anything under 2000.
