Description
** This issue is addressed in ArcGIS 9.0 Service Pack 2 (SP2) **When first loading group layers, the default consolidation process in ArcGlobe results in an application crash.
Cause
This is a known issue.
When loading group layers in ArcGlobe, the application builds a consolidated group, by default, which attempts to draw all the layers in the group as one entity. This optimizes performance by reducing layers to those layers needed, especially when there are too many layers in the TOC.
Workaround
** This issue is addressed in ArcGIS 9.0 Service Pack 2 (SP2).
Click on the link in Related Information below and download Service Pack 2, if necessary. **
With Service Pack 2, consolidation of the layers is not done while loading, but is invoked through the consolidate command. This allows loading group layers that contain many layers and consolidating at a selected time.
