Number formatting set in the ArcMap document is lost when served

Description

When the map is viewed as an ArcMap Service all number formatting set for fields in the ArcMap document are dropped.

Cause

ArcMap Server does not preserve the field formatting set in the original ArcMap document.

Workaround

There is no workaround other than to set field formatting in the client, if the client supports field formatting.
