Applying a map template (.mxt file) that uses 'Use Printer Paper' settings sets the paper size to that of the installed default printer

Description

Applying a map document template or .mxt file that uses 'Use Printer Paper' changes the map page size to that of the default paper size of the default printer installed on the computer.

Cause

This is a known issue.

Workaround

1. Open ArcMap with a new, empty map.
2. Navigate to File, then browse to and open the template (.mxt) file.
   
   The page size and printer information are retained in Page and Print setup.
