BUG

BUG-000162145 Split, Divide, and Clip give unexpected results or fail when the target layer is projected on the fly

Last Published: October 18, 2023

Description

ArcGIS Pro 3.1 and 3.2 contain a bug that causes unexpected results when using Editing tools that split features when the target layer is being projected on the fly. Affected tools: Split, Divide, and Clip. The following behaviors may be observed when encountering this bug:

  • When using Split to interactively split multiple selected features, some of the target features may not be split after the operation is completed.
  • When using Split By Feature, it may fail to split target lines.
  • When using Clip, target features may be offset from the source features that were used as input after the operation is completed.
  • When using Divide, the operation may fail with a Divide Features failed error.

Workaround

Ensure the target features are not being projected on the fly so that the coordinate system of the target layer matches the map's coordinate system.
