ArcMap crashes when printing to a network printer

When printing to a network printer, ArcMap crashes after clicking on the Print button on the File > Print dialog.


This is due to a defect in the Microsoft Windows printing subsystem that is triggered when a network printer's driver has been updated on the server, but not on the local workstation.

Solution or Workaround

To prevent the crash, remove and then reinstall the affected printer's driver. Alternatively, update the workstation's printer driver for this model to the same version that is on the server.
